Bringing the taste of Vietnam Downunder
Spoon fed has always been inspired by the brilliance of Luke Nyugen, owner and chef of Sydney restaurant Red Lantern. Luke's recent journey to the country of his heritage Vietnam inspired the Spoon fed crew into action!
Early in 2011 the directors of Spoon fed and Bottle fed Mia Daskalu and Paul Johnson decided that the best way to discover the tastes of Vietnam was to jump on a plane and see, smell and taste the local cuisine first hand.
View the online map of the trip and discover the trail that lead them to a culinary delight!
What they uncovered was the intensity of raw street preparation, market food and fresh produce. The simplicity and retro style cooking would allow Mia and Paul to inject Spoon fed with a new caliber of tastes and experiences
Mia would capture each passing town with a low key digital camera and setup an online gallery in three different categories to bring the trip to life. The three categories are:
- Vietnam in the Raw
A photographic look at the way food is setup for sale, prepared and presented. - Preparing for Taste
Takes you into the heart of the food, how it is presented and the complete visual impact of each meal - Meeting the Locals
The faces of Vietnam that helped make the 2011 trip so successful
